Powerful Phrases

Today is Friday June 5 th and I thought I would write something about how to easily make a major difference in the lives of the people we know and encounter. I believe that we are all called to make a difference. Early this week I read a wonderful book by Rich Devos entitled "Ten Powerful Phrases for Positive People". Rich Devos is a very unique and successfull business man. He founded the company Amway and he currently owns the Orlando Magic basketball Team. In his book he outlines some simple phrases that we can use to make a difference. One such phrase is "I am wrong". I love that one because I beleive we all are sometimes guiltly of not using this one enough. Sometimes our stubborn will to be right all the time can drive a wedge between friends and family members. At times the urge to be right can lead to arguments that aren't worth winning and in hindsights are just plain silly. I beleive that many times it is okay to just say that I was wrong and move on. Saying that I am wrong is the beginning of a healthy process. We grow when we place greater importance on healing a relationship than defending our position. Understanding that everyone errs in life takes the sting out of being wrong. Admitting we are wrong is the only way to truly heal the hurt we may have caused others. Without it, people tend to bear a grudge and develop wounds that may never fully heal. Look for the next opportunity to say that you were wrong to the people in your life. Watch how far this one step can help heal the other person, but also what it does for you. It's okay to laugh at yourself sometimes and say I was wrong!! God bless and have a great day.
